Standards and outlook
How The Standard Post reports, and where it stands.
What we are
The Standard Post reports the day's breaking news, politics, tech and entertainment, and states a few of each story's figures in absurd but accurate units. Its articles are written with AI tools from the reporting of other outlets, which are named and linked on every story, and each one is checked by code against that reporting before it is published.
Accuracy
Every number in an article appears in the reporting it cites. Every direct quote is checked word for word against that reporting before publication, and an article that fails the check is not published. Figures in absurd units are calculated by the Bureau of Useless Measurement's engine from documented unit values, and are rounded only as far as they still convert back to the figure as reported. Tap any figure to see the original number and the math.
Outlook
The Standard Post is center-left and classically liberal. It favors free markets and free trade, individual liberty, free speech, civil rights, the rule of law, open societies, and evidence over ideology. It is skeptical of populism, protectionism, and authoritarianism, whichever side they come from.
That outlook shapes what we emphasize and the tone of the Bureau's closing notes. It never shapes the facts: each side's position is reported accurately, in terms its own supporters would recognize. The Standard Post does not endorse candidates or tell readers how to vote, reports polls, projections, and race calls only as attributed to the organizations that make them, and never makes projections of its own.
What we don't cover
Stories about people being harmed: violence, disasters, illness, crime victims. Nothing about them is funny, so they are left to other outlets.
